So you're suggesting after KC tax payers shell out billions of dollars to construct a new terminal to make connecting / layover passengers super comfortable in a new KCI airport that those people will want to spend billions of dollars at the new airport? Man thats a lot of cups of Starbucks coffee, meals, and trinkets form the airport gift shop.... Or are you saying that after such a remodel that those passengers are going to being telling their friends and posting on Yelp "hey if you ever have a long connection or a layover then KCI is the place to do it, what a wonderful airport to be stuck in when passing through on a long connection"

Heck that would almost be like a play out of the JOCO playbook where in this case others enjoy the benefits of the local taxpayers.

Ok I am kind of joking and taking fun jabs on both accounts but I do understand KCI at some point will need a new terminal, I just don't think its right now. Like KCMO said the way these things go if they start planning for it today then maybe in 15 years KC will have a new terminal so in that regard I will conceed it might be time, although I just don't think scrapping KCMI all together is really needed.

Why do you insist on repeatedly comparing KCI to other problematic airports? Nobody is making a case for KCI becoming a crowded airport where people have to wait in the plane on the tarmac. Chances are, those airports get that they have a problem, and are working to fix it (likely with the backing of their taxpayers, instead of the opposition thereof.)

I don't recall repeatedly comparing KCI to other problematical airports but you make a good point that no airport is perfect so why mess with KCI if its too is not perfect. I was simply saying the delays can happen anywhere and event he nicest best planned airports that spent billions of dollars sometimes have long waits or delays and many time those happen with passengers sitting on the tarmac for hours at a time and that sitting in an airplane without a Starbucks and having one 2 small bathrooms is not much different than the complaints of sitting inside KCI

1) That was not my point, not even close

2) You just keep comparing apples and oranges (worst case scenario at other airports versus everyday experience at KCI) and I seem to be unable to convince you that you're doing it. So I'll let it go.

No my point was that the main complaints are passengers stuck in KCI during connecting flights (layovers) and while I understand and agree its not very comfortable for those layover passengers it's the airlines who through better scheduling can do a lot to alleviate those issues without tax payers having to spend billions of dollars on a nice new terminal to make those "waiting" passengers comfortable.

The argument of flight delays for departing or arriving passengers was brought up but again those are not "everyday" day scenarios and they too (apart from bad weather) are in the hands of the airlines.

The fact remains that KCI is bar none one of the easiest airports in the world to arrive curbside and get to your gate and vice versa and that reason alone KC needs to seriously consider the loss of that important aspect of building a new airport.

It's not common to be stuck sitting in a plane on the tarmac for hours with no Starbucks and only 2 small bathrooms. In all the flights I've taken, I can think of one time when we were stuck in the plane for about an hour, waiting for a gate to open. However, with every flight, I do sit in the terminal waiting for my flight and need easy access to nice restrooms and maybe coffee or food.
