Default The real problem

If your mother is the one who goes by Granba then her case is well known. The solution was easy and fast. But she suffers from dementia and needs help. Why don't you get a conservatorship? She is in no condition to either drive or vote.

I'm in the military. Every time we move my wife has to get a new drivers license. Here in NC, the drivers license place refused to accept 5 pieces of identification because she could not prove her full middle name. They finally issued her a drivers license when she provided her birth certificate with her full name, in combination with our marriage license from Nevada, and her New Mexico drivers license with her photo ID.

Morale of the story, get used to it. Thank goodness this was taken care of a few years ago. NC now has the strictest voter ID laws in the nation, which I support.

That's why I'd always have a passport, even if I have no desire to travel abroad. No need to bring in a marriage license or birth certificate, just the passport, DL from other state, and proof of residence.

My wife's passport did not have her full middle name. Just her middle initial. She ended up brining in her Oklahoma birth cert, New Mexico drivers license, and Nevada marriage license - just for a North Carolina drivers license. For some reason, in some states you can walk in to a state DMV with nothing more than a piece of mail and broken English and get a drivers license - and then register to vote.

I lived in KS 10 years ago(Moved from NY) I Just had transfer mine over. Got Married, just did a name change. Moved out of KS to OHIO. Just did a name/address change. I came back to KS a year ago and Had to show my Marriage Lic, Birth Cert and SS..

Funny thing - They still had me in their system after 5+years of being out of KS(I still have my old KS drivers License too).. Yet, I had to go through all the hassles of getting my Birth Cert and finding my Marriage License.... They wouldn't tell me why I had to show my birth cert. nor my wedding lic/cert. IT was Top Secret, don't you know?
