If you commute from Lawrence to KC, you will have the sun in your eyes both ways. That doesn't seem like it ought to be a big deal... until you deal with it everyday! I commuted from Topeka to Lawrence for 2 years and it is not a bad drive except for that.

Commuter traffic from Topeka to Lawrence is nothing. Traffic the other way is very heavy. The worst traffic is in Lawrence itself when the college students are there. In the summer time, traffic is light, because most of the students went home or elsewhere. Or at least that's how it was when I worked in Lawrence!

I always made good time, but then again, I got 3 speeding tickets on the turnpike in 2 years. I drove in some really bad weather, but I had a trick: Get behind a semi and stay behind him no matter what. It's not a secret trick. I remember one night in heavy fog I was creeping my way down the highway with next to no visibility when a semi came up behind me and passed me without even slowing down. (Well, he was probably going 35-40, it really was heavy fog at night.) I made up my mind to get right in behind and follow his tail lights home, but I had to wait for the line of cars trailing him to also pass me before I could take my place at the end of the line. Each car was following the tail lights of the car before it and that is ALL you could see! LOL

I don't have much of a commute anymore and I actually kind of miss it. It was a really good decompression time between work and home. I also listened to a lot of books on tape, which I never had time to do before or since.

How do you have road rage when you're wearing a bow tie and driving an ice cream truck?? It's like being an angry clown or something.
People do drive like lunatics on K10, what is it with that road?

What's an ice cream truck doing on a road like that anyway? LOL - I'd never let my kid run out on K10 for ice cream!! And do they still wear bow ties while driving an ice cream truck in the KC area? The driver of the truck in my neighborhood just wears t-shirts. Come to think of it, he looks like he could be a little road ragey too.

It sounds like everyone deals with this very well. I am going to be driving from Lenexa to Lawrence. It's convienent because it's right by K-10. However, I am also worried about how long it will take me to get to Lawrence. I have a class at 9:30 a.m. and my day is over at 5:15 p.m. This is prime driving hours... Also, I only have one class M,W,F in the middle of the day and seems like it's going to be more of a pain in the ass than anything. Has anyone had experiene with the K10 Connector? If so, how did you like it?
