Easy, when you are too busy trying to pay the bills, you can't really worry about exploring. Went through this for a few years in Virginia.

Not everyone advertises where they are from when they travel.
I actually make a point of blending in as much as possible, and I'm certain there are many others out there who do the same. It doesn't necessarily mean that NO ONE from Kentucky travels. And other people on this thread also have a very good point about the state of the economy vs. travel. A lot of people are staying close to home in order to pay the bills, in all 50 states.

Try Google for Redneck Riviera. There's plenty.
Here's one link:
Urban Dictionary: Redneck Riviera

It takes money to travel and Kentucky is a low income state.

We (my wife and I) damned near built a house on the Redneck Riviera; in Waveland MS. a block from the beach. But the owner of the lot had title trouble so we backed out. Turns out if we had built the place it would've been finished just in time for Katrina to smash it up; the whole neighborhood was destroyed.

We dodged that bullet and moved the Lexington instead. Which is another story; suffice to say we're back in Chicago and once again able to get a decent pizza and eat in restaurants where people don't wear backwards UK caps.

Nails on a chalkboard anyone??

"Backwards" hats can be found anywhere, especially in larger cities such as perfect Chicago. What does "backwards" hats have to do with anything anyway. WOW, you and Visvidalis (whatever his name is) and ElectricEars should all live on some island in paradise together. I'm sure you'd find something to complain about though.

I wish Pizza and the way someone wore their hat was my only priorities.

ALL them people in Chicago are pillars of the community and upstanding citizens, everybody knows that.

I get the feeling something would be wrong with paradise.

The program responds, like a trout to a fly. Though if InLondon is a person he's probably more familiar with catfish than trout.

You can fish for trout in Kentucky too. Sorry you feel that way about Kentucky, Irish.. But it's your loss! I'll take pizza with friends (I call them friends even if I dont' know them) no matter which way they wear their ball caps. I have lived my whole life (so far) in small town Kentucky and wouldn't have it any other way. The largest town I've lived in has a population of 25,000. A small town is like what they say about the bar Cheers. It's where everybody knows your name. Sometimes that can be good, and sometimes not so good. But there are lots of friendly people in this state. Not only where I've lived but in the towns we've traveled to. This may sound corny but I'm proud to live in Kentucky!
Kentucky is a low income state? I know it's not anywhere hear the top of the list of richer states but there are large numbers of Kentuckians who travel.

I live not to far from chi. I'm retiring in KY. Please don't judge people from chi because of the likes of Irishtom. We do have great pizza up here!

I'm going to draw from my understanding of the Southern, geographically-isolated and self-proclaimed "Real American" demographies and venture some explanations.

People from KY don't go to the following places for the following reasons:

  • CA, OR, WA: too many tree huggers, hippies, socialists, too many foreigners, can't even practice my 2nd Amendment rights
  • Inland western states: good people but if I have family there, they can come up and see me if they want to. Otherwise, I have plenty of good hunting and fishing spots right where I'm at.
  • Midwestern states similar to KY: good people but if I have family there, they can come up and see me if they want to. Otherwise, I have plenty of good hunting and fishing spots right where I'm at.
  • Other Southern states: good people but if I have family there, they can come up and see me if they want to. Otherwise, I have plenty of good hunting and fishing spots right where I'm at.
  • Northeastern states: too many foreigners and metrosexuals, too crowded, everything's unreasonably priced, can't even practice my 2nd Amendment rights
  • Canada: in some places they don't even speak English, in the cities it's probably like New York, in some parts there are probably good hunting and fishing but if I have family there, they can come up and see me if they want to. Otherwise, I have plenty of good hunting and fishing spots right where I'm at.
  • Mexico: that's where all the illegals come from and they don't even speak English
  • Europe: too much Eurotrash who show no gratitude for what the U.S. did for them in WW2, they don't even speak English or speak it right, too many metrosexuals, too crowded, everything's unreasonably priced, can't even practice my 2nd Amendment rights

These explanations could've been longer.
