Both of them sound kind of intriguing just wondering what they were like? Has anyone been to either of them, or live in either of these places?

Thank You

My grandfather is a originally from Mayfield so I have a lot of family that lives there. While I haven't been there in a few years, I used to visit there with my grandparents probably once a year to visit family. My opinion of Mayfield? It's a very nice laid back southern town. The people are very friendly and there's a southern charm about the place. I've always thought it to be a really nice place and all my family agrees as they still live there. However, I'm not sure if you need employment or not. I'm not sure there are high paying jobs there. I know there's work in service positions but beyond that I'm not sure....

Mayfield is a small town, population like 10,000. I don't know anything about the other town, never been there. You should type both towns into city-data.com to see the demographics and more info.

Did all that, just curious to hear from someone that knew the areas firsthand, and I am glad I have heard from a few people.

Sorry I missed this thread earlier ...

I live near Mayfield, so near it I have a Mayfield address but I'm in the county (Graves) ... what do you what to know. I can tell you about everything you want to know and a few things you don't ... LOL!

I lived in Maysville for many years as a teenager back in the 80s. At the time it had a vibrant downtown, very historic with lots of kooky shops and restaurants--it was grand. But then came Walmart out on the hill, just outside of the city limits (so it would not need to pay taxes...)

The last time I was in Maysville (maybe 5 years ago) the downtown was dead--the classic Walmart effect. Do I sound bitter? Another beautiful little town destroyed by corporate greed...

As for the city itself, it's perfectly situated--one hour from Cincinnati, one hour from Lexington. If you drive east you start getting into the more rural areas (lots of Amish around Fleming County, and there is a place in Flemingsburg where you can get the best dried apple pies...)

My grandparents, dad, and family were born in Mayfield. Myself from Michigan always loved Mayfield. Havent been back since grampa and gram passed. People were very friendly. Very laid back. Not much to do. The crime rate is very low, good schools, very clean city. Not much work there. gramps worked for the city, gram worked at the Merit clothing factory. I would like to live there some day.
