Could anyone please tell me which neighborhoods are both affordable and safe for walking in, biking, etc?

I am interested in neighborhoods around elementary schools. T.C. Cherry or McNeil in particular.

Which streets or neighborhoods should I avoid?

It's important that we (parents and kids) be able to walk and bike.

Thank you.

The only areas of Bowling Green to avoid would be on the west side of town and some of them are even ok. You mention McNeil and T.C. Cherry schools so you must be looking to live right in town. Potter Gray is also a very good city school also and the neighborhoods around that school are excellent. Are you looking to buy or rent when you move here?

Thanks for the response. We're looking to rent long term, possibly buy, but not right away.

If I'm looking at the map, which streets delineate East and West of the city? So many towns use those names for other than straight down the middle. Thank you.

If you look at the map, you will see Russellville Road running all of the way up to Adams Street and Lousiville Road. You want to stay on the side with Nashville Road running over to Scottsville Road and all of that area. If you go on the other side of Russellville Road there are some neighborhoods that are ok but you have to check them out. There are some newer houses around the water park neighborhoods and the houses are nice and are for rent, but check out everything if you rent there...schools, KSP website etc.
