Warriors Path has a huge mult-million dollar special needs playground. Its for all the kids, but it is especially designed with provisions for special needs. It is in a word awesome! We always enjoyed going to the Greenbelt to ride our bikes, playing putt-putt, going to Skate City in Kingsport (right behind McDonalds on Stone Drive). We would go to church lock-ins & do stuff with our youth group a lot. There are lots of parks up there for the kids. We always enjoy taking my now 4 year old daughter up there because there are more parks it seems than we have down here or maybe they are just more accessible. Lets see what else....we did a lot of "country kid" things like target practice, taking creek walks, hiking up in the hills & stuff like that. Boone lake is awesome especially by boat, but they do have a few places you can go swimming there too in the summer. If anything else comes to mind I will add it. I really liked growing up in Kingsport. When I got older we felt like there was not as much to do, but now I realize that all kids (no matter where they live) feel that way when they are teens...hehe.

Julie

Sounds like you have fond memories of growing up in kingsport, thanks for sharing!

I wanted to mention that on Sept 7th and 8th Riverfest 2007 Chainsaw Circus will be the largest Rock Fest that this area has ever seen.

They also have the summer in the city ( I think that is the name of it, but it is late hahahaah) program where there is music in the streets every Thursday and Friday nights with live bands of all kinds. Downtown Kingsport, Center and Broad Streets.

There's a place in north Johnson City called 'Fun Expedition'. It has a small bowling alley, rock climbing wall, miniature golf, go-karts, tons of video games, and I don't know what all else. Great for probably 12 and under.

Bays Mountain in Kingsport. Barge rides, the planetarium, animals, hiking trails. There are several great school playgrounds that are accessible to the public during the summer.
