The Greeneville City Council has decided to purchase land next to the Greene County Fairgrounds. The decision as to what will occupy the land has not been determined but one potential plan is to build a new middle school.

Does Greeneville really need another school? Are the schools over crowded?

I would think they would just be building a bigger Greeneville Middle School, and still only having one middle school, but I could be wrong. They only have one (city) high school and it has more students than GMS, it's just a much bigger building.

The current GMS building (which I went to) has been there for many decades and there are too many students for it now. That being said, it could also make sense to have a new one serve more of the North & East side of Greeneville and the current one serve more of the South and West side of Greeneville; like how they have different elementary schools for different parts of the city.
