Hi, I am planning to move to Bristol in a few months, and I am looking to rent a house...does anyone know a website where i can find houses for rent? If not, i am just curious how much will I pay for rent in Bristol?

Have no idea about Bristol rent, really. A ballpark for a house, 2/2 should range you somewhere between $500 and $800 for an average house, depending on location, quality, age. Nicer and larger homes usually are between 900 and 1200. Those are Johnson City figures, and I assume they're similar for Bristol.

Figures for apartments are about the same, actually. A normal 2/1 will run you between $500 and $650 and a 2/2 $650 up to around $750, a 3/2 up to $900.

I would check the website for the Bristol Herald-Courier and the Kingsport Times-News, and also the Tri-Cities Craigslist.

There is a nice little house on the corner of Maple St. and Virginia Ave in Bristol thats for rent. You can also find some by driving around. I have not priced them. I know my folks own a nice 14X70mobile home that they rent out to a family for $350 (including lot rent where it is setup at). We bought the mobile home new in 1995 and lived in it until 2000 when we got our house built, then moved it to a park and rented it out (originally RTO to a son one of my moms friends) - they paid on it for about 7 years, then moved out. Strange. Now we are renting it out. Its across from the speedway. No telling how much they would get for it if they rented it out for the races.

My aunt owns a house on Pennsylvania Ave in Bristol, but its under renovation and not ready for occupancy yet. Its a very old house and run down, so they are working on it some. I thin they rented it for $400. Its a big 2-story home that was built in 1900 and it shows!

Good luck.

Craigslist tends to have quite a few Bristol listings.

I don't know if you've located anything yet but I noticed quite a few homes for rent in the Fairmount Elementary School area, they are all older homes but its just off Virgina Ave and convienient to hwy 394 and Volunteer Pkwy. Don't know what the rents are but if the signs have a phone number on them I'll post them next time I'm on that side of town.

I don't know how much good it's going to do you to look now for a house you want to rent a few months from now, but Craigslist has a couple of 3-bedroom, 1-bath homes listed in Bristol, VA...$495 and $550. There's also a 3-bedroom, 2-bath mobile home in Bristol, TN for $475. Most of the listings are for $600+.

Not sure, but my folks have a nice mobile home that they rent out in Bristol for like $350 per month.... and obviously thats too much for some, because the renters are behind on the rent and now they have no power.... said they cant afford the electric bill either.
