Dollywood is a must for us. We figure we'll go after 3PM one day, and then the next day on the same ticket. I don't think the wife will need a wheelchair as long as there are places to sit and we pace ourselves. If we take in a show or two that would help.

Our current thinking is we'll spend 3-4 nights in the Tri-Cities, and 3-4 nights in either the Pigeon Forge or Knoxville area.

Are there any festivals or events in the TRI during the third week of April that we shouldn't miss? Thanks!

I don't know about the Tri Cities area. There is a really nice hotel (Pigeon Forge)on 441 around red light 10 (I believe) called Smokey Shadows, the people were very nice. They have a indoor heated pool and a jacuzzi in the room (if you ask). And there is a Trolley that goes to the attractions.

April looks like a slow month for the Tri-cities area. Found a few things listed for the Knox area though.
TRIPinfo.com - Tennessee Festivals - Tennessee Events

And a link for local happenings that maybe you can check back the closer you get to your trip, not too much listed there right now.

We always stay at the AmericInn Inn. The pool is great for the kids in the evening and they have a nice breakfast included in the price as well.
Warriors Path Park has a great playground for the kids. Ours also enjoy the Hands On museum and the fossil museum as well as Bays Mountain.
For dinner one night you might want to try CiCis all you can eat pizza buffet. It works great for the kids, is inexpesnive and isn't far from the AmericInn.
