Johnson City - we want your feedback on future retail opportunities. Tell us what new retail you want to see here! QuestionPro Survey - Washington County Retail Survey

Got this through my twitter feed from JCEcoDev. Maybe if we all take it, a Williams Sonoma will magically appear in Washington County.

Everyone put in Nando's at the end. You'll just have to trust me; there are two in DC - just awesome!

Don't know what the ultimate objective is in that survey (to convince the big guys to come to WC?) but I put 'shops', not malls or strip malls filled with corporate stores. Same for restaurants - I like the idea of local entrepreneurs who create nice, local eateries where you might actually know someone when you walk in..

In the comments I wrote a big long thing about the importance of bringing well-recognized names to downtown. This may be dreaming really big but Arby's and CVS/Walgreen's always show an interest in relocating to early redeveloping downtowns.

Okay, Jab, I completely agree with at least one, big-name, anchor store downtown. We had heard that several years ago the Mast Store had expressed interest in coming but there supposedly was not adequate interest on the part of JC officials in pursuing them.. Now that would have been a coup and a near instant transformation of the DT landscape. Hope they don't make *that* mistake again..

I don't know if you're looking for interesting food or cookware at William Sonoma, but if it's food, try 'I Fancy Food' in Jonesborough. But for cookware and gadgets, I agree that WS has a drool-worthy selection!

I heard Mast General Store was interested in Jonesborough as well, but there wasn't a store downtown that was big enough for it. That's a shame, because Jonesborough would be a great location.

I'm not crazy about a lot of chain stores, but I would love some Asheville small businesses cloned!
