Invalid comparisons you are suggesting. Of course the winters aren't like those you mentioned, but NW S.C. winters are cold, it isn't semi-tropical there.

Heck it feels crispy to me right now and it's maybe 45 degrees. Probably because the air is dry and one of my neighbors is burning wood.

I would have guessed NW SC to be about 5 degrees warmer on average. I was there last week when the fall color was almost over here in Knoxville but it was at peak at lake Jocassee.
