I am still fairly new to the area and really would like to find a regular place to play poker. I only play Texas Hold'em and open to just about anything - tournament, cash games, etc. Anyone know of a regular place to play?

Thanks

I did a very quick Google search of poker in Knoxville and found several sites. You may want to give that a shot.

Actually I did that. I even found a site that lists several places that hold regular games but upon calling them they no longer host poker games. Guess there isn't a big interest for it here.

It's definitely illegal.

Social gambling does not get a pass from state law, so home poker games - regardless of what the stakes are or if anyone takes a rake - are also not legal in Tennessee. Based on arrest statistics and anecdotal evidence, Tennessee seems more interested than the average state in breaking up private poker games.

Charges related to illegal gambling in Tennessee appear to be much more frequent than in the average US state. In 2011, Tennessee reported 276 gambling-related arrests. A recent raid on a private poker game nearly came to a tragic end when gunfire was exchanged between police and players.

Oh it's big here...just gotta know who. There's a strong underground poker following trust me on that and sorry, I will not give any info. Just hang around at some bars (pool/billiards) chit chat with some locals and soon enough you will know the "ins".

Downtown Grill has it every Monday night. There are 2 games, one at 6:00 and one at 9:00. The 6 pm game averages from 40-60 players. It's completely free, you do not have to buy food or drink either.

The 9pm game is what we have coined as our Progressive Tournament. Depending on how many people play and at what point you go bust from the tournament you will earn points. So, in a way everyone is winning something. We track your name and your points for as long as you play at the Brewery. As you earn more points you can achieve different things from us; from a Mug Club Membership to a t-shirt to invites to special events to extra chips on Monday nights! In addition, for every person that shows up at the 9pm game we throw some money into a "pot". The pot will build and at the end of the month the top 10 point winners for the month will distribute the pot. There is typically 100+ players in this event.
