Married couple with 4 young kids. We are looking to live some place outside of Marysville. We like lakes, boating and camping. Also looking for great schools with little crime.

After researching i found kingston which has a nice lake with homes on the lake and in the general area. Schools are A schools but im not sure about the crime.

Can someone tell me how that area is? Is there any nightlife close by for me and my wife to go out, and any fun stuff for kids? If you have other suggested areas i would love to hear. We are looking at homes 450k and under.

We are currently in a small town in central florida about 40 mins away from downtown orlando if you want to compare to where we live now.

Thanks

I always look at the good and not so good of potential locations to live but I also try to look at all the data available not just schools and crime. For example I look at distance and direction from the nearest nuclear reactor facility or the nearest superfund or potential future superfund site.

This was national news.

Tennessee coal ash spill | America's 10 worst man-made environmental disasters | MNN - Mother Nature Network

I'm shocked that you are Googling the town and not seeing this.

Nightlife in Kingston? I suppose it depends on what you consider nightlife. For some, that means sitting on the back porch or hunting, not that there is anything wrong with that! But no, I wouldn't consider there to be any nightlife in Kingston.

Kingston is a pretty quiet small town on the lake. And yes, there is a coal plant in Kingston that had a terrible ash spill from a retention pond in 2008. The town is still receiving some remediation payments from that disaster and it has resulted in more parks and improved recreation facilities (of course some people lost their homes/properties from the spill, which is truly terrible).

FYI, there is a regular live music series hosted at Ladd Landing in Kingston. Some community centers/ churches also host live music in the area. That is not exactly nightlife, but the music quality (mostly bluegrass, americana and country) is very high!

I would not think the schools are particularly good, but it depends on your expectations. I live in Ten Mile, south of Kingston. The people we bought our place from paid tuition to send their kids to Oak Ridge schools.
