I am considering moving with my job within a year to the Farragut area. Any suggestions on housing $150K-$175K.

Congrats and Knoxville welcomes you. Several good sites to see homes, and that price range will put you looking at probably some older homes, several available in the Ebenezer rd area, and Rocky Hill. Also Crestwood hills, have some in that range, and usually will require some tlc. Great searches, would include, View homes.com and kgis.org for information, as well as this forum, City-data. com...... Good luck.

I also moved from Memphis to Knoxville, and I don't regret it. There are plenty of things I miss about Memphis, but I just have to remind myself about the rampant crime and sweltering heat to remember why I left Memphis. I hope you enjoy Knoxville and East Tennessee, too. And we're not TOO far from Memphis for those long weekend trips back to Beale Street.

How much of a commute are you willing to do. You could easily find something in that price range a little west of Farragut in, say, Kingston or Harriman which are both in Roane County. Or check out Alcoa in Blount County. As oldmanbob said, it will be difficult to find something in Farragut proper in your price range, but if you look at the parts of Knoxville that he suggested or at Roane County or even Blount County you shouldn't have any problems.
