Thanks for all the wonderful ideas and information about Tennessee. I am currently looking at property for sale in Seymour. Orginially I was looking at Townsend and Cherokee. After researching many different areas, I have 4-5 pieces (Franklin, Cosby) of land to look at in five different towns. I am not familiar with the property in Seymour. It is off Porterfield gap road. Anyone know the area? I think it is the 1200-1300 area. Wooded? Present Sub-divsions? View of mountians? Will be in town later this month and want to look at the land avialable. Thanks for your help.

It looks like it might be steep land, but there's no way to see unless I look.

That area of the road is between two hills, I think.

Try Google Maps to help you take a look.

Or look on the map section of the listing. There are two properties for sale over there.

Listing #666522

If the property is located at 1203 Porterfield Gap Rd., it's heavily wooded and extremely steep, rising over 200 feet in the first 200 horizontal feet back from the road.

FWIW, this property was priced at $45K in July and is now listed at $30K, but the current owner only paid $12,750 for it in Aug. '08.

Thanks for all your help. I am currently living in South Carolina and would like to buy some land for retirement. Sounds reasonable, however a lot of work to build on. Any other comments would be appreciated.

Porterfield Gap is a nice road. Quiet, pretty. Some roads off it have mountain views. I live very close and could check out an address for you (if it wasn't 1203).

It looks like the property is all hill. Heavily wood. Steep.

My records indicate something completely different than the other poster's information.

I am looking at the Sevier County records right now. For 1203 Porterfield Gap Road, Seymour, TN it was last sold 6/11/1997 for 17,200. Appraised market value, according to Sevier County is $43,900.

I don't see this lot to be buildable.

You can try playing around with the map if you like. Go to "Layers" and click on "Aerial Photo." Then put in the address.
