It really is a life changing thing. You don't notice how much time TV takes away from your life, until its gone. Spend time with the kids, go out on dates with your spouse (or go find people to date if you are single), get a hobby, go to the gym...etc etc etc. I assume its the same feeling fat people have after they lose weight. Its just amazing that you ever lived your life carrying around all that extra weight (Or watching hours and hours of tv every day).

I used to think TV made me happy, until I got rid of it. You have no idea how much better life is without TV, until you stop.

I have netflix now (And an antenna for local news, emergencies), so my daughter can watch her kid shows, and I catch the occasional movie. There is nothing in the world that would make me trade my now $9/month tv bill for my old $100/month Directv bill.

We started with Cox cable hooked up for a year. Then we had the cable tv shut off, but maintained high speed internet.

When we did the new settings for the tv (new LCD Flat screen HDTV) after cable was shut off, we were able to pick up every single over the air channels perfect. We never disconnected the cable from the back of the tv. Someone told us that our cable was acting like an antenna. Not sure if that is true or not. We lived in Centenniel Hills area.

So, we have done the same thing here in Tucson, AZ. We had basic cable hooked up, $19.99/month (not an option online, you have to call) and high speed internet through Cox. Had the cable turned off and we now have over 30 different HD channels. Even have TBS, 79.1

You could try it. Least expensive option I know of.

You need a different antenna and/or a higher mounting point. The antenna you bought is probably for receiving UHF, and possibly upper VHF. The other three major networks broadcast on upper VHF channels here, but NBC broadcasts on VHF channel 2, the very lowest frequency VHF channel. This is really bad because the optimal dipole length for channels 7 thru 13 aren't that different, but to receive channel 2 well you need a dipole about three or four times as long as for channels 7-13. A pair of rabbit ears oriented horizontally 102" wide is optimal for receiving channel 2.

Antenna is great, but with internet.. get a Roku 2 and stream!! Roku + Netflix is an amazing combo. I also have Hulu Plus.

I went from $190 O_O bill (Cable [HD DVR in 2 rooms + all channels] with phone and internet) to $46! $30 internet + $8 Netflix + $8 Hulu Plus

SO. WORTH IT.
I even bought an antenna for like $4 from Amazon. Great for when I want to watch shows on Fon on Sunday nights.

Money saved is DELICIOUS.

Anyone have any ideas? As well, what we may require.

Thanks.
We live in Henderson and installed an antenna in our attic. We received 30+ stations. We tuned out the foreign language and other stations that were not of interest to us. This left us with 17 english speaking stations: 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 5.1, 5.2, 8.1, 8.2, 10.1, 10.2, 13.1, 13.3, 25.1, 47.1, 47.3, 47.4, 47.5, 47.6. I am still hunting for the transmission towers for stations 18.1, 18.2, 18.3, 18.4. I get conflicting information as to their location, but it seems they out by Pahrump.

If you point your antenna west. You should get 18.1-18.4. The transmitter is located at MT Potosi.

Thanks for feedback. I will get a second antenna to face that direction so I won't have to re-tune the TV each time I want to watch those stations.
