Learning about the internet prices and speed is a bit depressing. I'll never complain about Insight again. Guess when we move to Las Vegas, we'll have to deal with the slow internet and high prices. Presently, I have basic service here in Louisville and that's 10mb. Upgrades are 20, 30 or 50mb. Hopefully, some of these higher speeds will migrate farther west in the near future. BTW, I pay 60 per month for the internet plus unlimited telephone local and long distance. However we have state income tax and snow - so there you go. Can't wait to move.

Just got a notice from COX saying that they are increasing their rates across the board. Price for my internet starter package increased to 25.99 from 22.99. That's a 13% increase!! Kind of excessive if you ask me.

MMM! I'm not really adding to to the topic, I'm sorry... but life without Comcast sounds sexy. This furthers my pursuit to move out there!!

I have had Cox since Cox came to Vegas. (Before Cox it was Las Vegas Cable Modem - LVCM. Cox is WAY better than LVCM!!)

Cox's reliability has continued to get better over the years. What once was, perhaps, an occasional internet outage of an hour is now a few minutes. These outages are rare - maybe one or two a year.

In years past when having an "issue" I'd schedule a tech appointment. He'd show up (on time) and usually a relatively simple replacement of a connection or two with better quality materials would do the trick.

I do shudder every month when it's time to pay my bill. But then I figure I spend virtually all of my free time either in front of my computer or my TV -- so it's worth $165/mo.

What I do NOT like is Cox's telephone support. Then again, I've found true telephone "support" in recent years/decades, regardless of which company one may call, is rare.

I also received the rate increase from Cox. That is what spurred me to look else where. I have their whole package with two phone lines. I have HD TV
and only HBO for premium channels. My current bill is about 220.00 per month. If i need to pay that much I should get more for my money from Century link with more TV channels. I will need to go to their office and have a chat with them.

I have yet to find a dsl internet connection that is as good as cable. I have had both roadrunner and cox with little problems. for instance in 1 year their internet (cox) went down for 3 hours. roadrunner about the same.

with dsl it depends on how far you are from their box in your neighborhood. also if they have fiber optics in your neighborhood. for me there is no comparison. cable internet is EXPENSIVE but worth the price. As far as cable tv, the price is too high. i hope someone finds a way to make it more cost effective because jeesh the price is just insane.

also contracts are something to consider. do you have to sign a contract? what if you hate the product and you want out? what are the etf's.
