Minimum wage is $8.25 in NV correct? How am I getting paid $7.25 at Vons? My supervisor claims they are giving me free benefits which is why I get paid less, but I cant get them until I have been with the company six months

Can Vons (Safeway owns them) legally get away with paying me $7.25 an hour? It seems to me like they use the benefits as an excuse to pay me less, since I cannot get them until them until December

Is there anything I can do to get my $8.25 i deserve?

You have the same benefits I had when I worked at a small hotel back in St. Helena. You're employed. Other than finding a job elsewhere, there's nothing that you can do.

Benefits and full time employee status does play a role. Benefits are worth thousands of dollars to a company. To be honest, I would rather get paid 7.25 with benefits than 8.25 without.

I have a friend that makes min wage because he doesn't get benefits, but when his benefits kick in, he'll be making $7.50 an hour instead of the $8.25 an hour. He also makes tips.

Davie, don't underestimate the value of your benefits. I know you could use the extra cash now, but when that nasty rug burn on your knee gets infected and you have to see the Dr. you'll be glad you have them.

And don't ruffle any feathers at work about it. You need your job more than you need the 75 cents an hour.

Minimum wage is $7.25 if your company offers health benefits, $8.25 if they do not. So you're getting paid correctly.

Legally they may be in the right. But I still have a problem with them paying you based on what they
MAY provide to you in 6 months. For all you know you may be let go the day before you get any benefits. It's unfortunate that employers have us over a barrel and can skirt laws. And boy do they.
