I'm going to be on a business trip for about 10 days. A coworker of mine suggested parking at one of the casinos and taking a cab (or shuttle) from there.

Anyone recommend for/against this? I can't see how it would probably be a problem - I don't know of any casino that takes car info from their guests. Someone could easily be a guest for that long and not move their car.

Plus, I figure it's not safer at the airport or the casino - anyone can walk around a parking garage and break into a car (or worse... steal it). Actually, I'd bet the casinos are actually safer - I imagine they have more cameras than the airport.

I just really don't want to be paying $140+ for parking. I'd take a cab from my home, but I just don't trust them to actually show up at my place at 4:30 in the morning.

Here is a MUCH cheaper option: Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) | Transit Center and Park & Ride Facilities (http://www.rtcsouthernnevada.com/transit/terminals.cfm - broken link)

I've used the South Strip Terminal several times with no problems whatsoever. It involves taking a five- to seven-minute bus ride, which costs $2 each way.

That would be nice. But it looks like there is a 7 day limit on leaving your car there.

(I will definitely keep that in mind on shorter trips.)

The economy lot at the airport is $8/day so that'd only be $80.

You can request an extension beyond seven days at the terminal. I haven't used the extension yet, as my trips have been shorter than seven days, but it's definitely an option. And it's definitely free.

I've parked at MGM, then take the taxi. I asked security how they kept track of cars parked there & he said "Well if a car's been here forever it'll be really dirty & we'll notice it." Good enough answer for me.

Just be sure to go in there during business hours, I think 7am-10pm and ask the security desk for the form to park over 7 days. Takes 2 minutes. As long as you aren't leaving overnight or at the crack of dawn there are no issues with it.

That is always in the RJ's "worst of Las Vegas" for parking garages. I wouldn't be surprised if there are bodies in there of people who died looking for their cars.

I heard that some casino's may offer free shuttle service to the airport, i think it was The Hard Rock, but I could be wrong. If true, i would just park at self parking and take the free shuttle.

The taxi companies pretty much threaten every hotel that if they started up shuttle service the availability of cabs to serve them would mysteriously go down. There are paid shuttles (which sometimes a hotel will pay for as a package deal for guests) and of course they can serve their high rollers with limo service.
