Who can patch a big hole,
do stucco work too,
who can take a ceiling fan
and connect it up for you,
The Handyman!
Yes, the handyman can
The handyman can,
cause he has his own tools
and fixes it up for you!

[comon sing along!]

Can anyone recommend a decent handyman (handywoman) handyperson!
to do some minor items in my house?

Thanks!

Jonathan

I actually found a REALLY great guy, and he asked me to post, that if anyone else needs work done, I can recommend him very VERY Strongly!

He is honest, reasonable priced, he is CRAZY on detail

He has done everything from installing Diner chairs into the tile floor, to installing a Jacuzzi for me
he also custom installed a Desk for my office

He worked as a construction 'finisher' on both Trump and Cosmo.

DM me for his name and info

Jonathan

I'll definitely be giving in a call when a house comes through for me. That is nice work on your home office.

We found Rodney here on City Data when we bought our house 2 years ago. He was awesome! He did everything to paint the inside of our house to fixing the toilet that rocked and everything in between. My husband's idea of home improvement, call Rodney. Definitely worth a call. If you want his number, let me know.

One of the things that REALLY surprises me about this town is the fact that next to nobody does their own work at home. Neighbors see me out working in the yard or in the woodshop in my garage and they look at me like I have three heads.

"Don't you have a guy for that?" I'm sure they're thinking.

No. I don't have a guy for that. I AM the guy.

Now that I think about it, you're right. In Florida everyone was out puttering in their yard, doing home repair projects, saying hello to neighbors. Not so much here in Vegas.

Well of course not everyone can do that sort of stuff. It's great that you can. Some people can do their own taxes, some people can't. I'd wager you'd hire a computer person long before Jonathon would.

I know what you are talking about though. I built a walkway in my front yard from flagstone and people kept asking me to give them the number of who did it. The worst thing was that my friend who helped me is mexican and people kept acting like I picked him up at home depot.

I replaced all the locks in my house, with electronics ones, I installed a new mailbox outside, I cut down all the overgrown trees, I strung rope light the perimeter of my pool (its awesome, I will post pics one of these days) I redesigned my fireplace so I can light it using electronic ignition.
I replaced my kitchen faucet and added a reverse osmosis filter, I have done LOADS of work in my house. But I know my limits, where I would rather PAY A PROFESSIONAL $$ instead of do it myself, mess it up and then need to PAY A PROFESSIONAL $$$$$ to undo my damage!

LOL.. I know the feeling of thinking I could fix something myself and end up screwing it up worse than what it was in the beginning !

Well, the even worse feeling is when one is afraid to attempt some repair around the house because of the possibility of a screw-up.

It's only when the homeowner can confidently move beyond that fear can he or she become a handyperson. That takes books and the right tools and experience.
