Oh boy o boy....
My wife and I were invited to the "Pre-Sale" which we just came back from.

Lemmie be the first to tell each and every one of you to not waste your time.
TOTAL JUNK.

I SUPPOSE if you owned a restaurant and got there at 10 am right when it opened you COULD have gotten a bunch of old busted up kitchen stuff for a HALFWAY decent price.

Just halfway.

Some pretty outlandish prices for some old crap is what I saw.
Like $75.00--$175.00 for those old poker stools.
{which they had a gazillion of}
OLD OLD OLD vacuum cleaners for $50.00 {I'm talking 10 year old machines that CAN'T work good at all.

On the invite I read that when it opens to the general public, there will be a $10.00 entrance fee.
Are they NUTS???

CLEARLY they are gonna have to drop the prices once they see the crap isn't getting sold.

Don't waste your time. The air conditioning wasn't pumping too good IMHO, so I was sweating like a pig.

PLUS---I walked the entire place in under 10 mins-----it's just that small.

Yeah that $10 entrance fee is gonna guarantee that I stay away.

The only thing I'd be interested in is one of the poker tables & I'm sure they'll ask way too much for them. Maybe - just maybe - I'd think about buying the poker room sign. The problem is, none of this stuff is that 'unique' or 'special', so why should I pay a premium for it?

I wouldn't be surprised if this goes past the 19th with greatly discounted prices. Otherwise maybe someone buys up the lot for pennies on the dollar. I just don't see the appeal & I'm not sure how many others will, either.

Methinks the liquidators are trying to polish a turd & sell as a priceless artifact ...

They couldn't agree on the price...it kept going up, then down, then up again, then down again...

I've noticed a lot of those sales were crap. Stardust's sale didn't have an entrance, and from the friends I have who worked there - the employees got a lot too (and things disappeared!)

There wasn't and isn't anything worth buying that kind of money for. Being local, I found casino bar stools for $5 at any second hand bar/restaurant/casino reseller. They are dime a dozen out on Boulder Highway or lurking around downtown, as well as units around Industrial Drive. Half my house was casino kitsch (mirrors, lamps, stools) from resellers after any number of hotel renovations. So I'm a bit disappointed at Sahara's sale.

I'm sure it is smart business, but still - the stuff is likely to be crap scratch and dent.

Yeah. I felt a little twinge of melencholy when I heard that it was closing. It was the first hotel that I stayed in when visiting LV, around 1954, I think. It was a very classy place at the time. Haven't been there for a long time though.
