Are there any dog parks in the NW or Summerlin areas? They have become a big thing back east where people don't always have lots of outdoor space (condo/apartment dwellers especially).

Desert Breeze is one I go to often. It is very nice, and there are 3 separate areas for different size dogs. Very popular, and the small dog area is usually the most packed. There's also a smaller one on Buffalo and Flamingo which I don't see on that list.

LOL...I try to get them to 'mingle' at those places, but all they want to do is lay down at my feet.

There's a neat one behind the Northwest Area Command Center/Policy Academy, off Cheyenne/Metro Academy Rd..

My doggies sometimes even have "scheduled play dates" with their friends over there, lol

In the northwest there is a very large dog park on the corner of Tenaya and Alexander. It is next to W. Wayne Bunker Park. There are two flood water drainage basins separated by Gowen. The southern basin has soccer fields. The northern basin has three enclosures for dogs, two of which are active at any given time. One is for larger dogs, the other for smaller dogs. The enclosures are huge with plenty of room for the dogs to roam around.

Our dogs know five or six parks, and when we get close to one, they get all excited. I prefer Kellogg-Zaher because I don't even have to leash them up to get from the car to the gate as it's only a few steps from the parking lot. And it has lights, which is very important around here in the summer time. I like Barkin' Basin for it's size, but there isn't much shade, and it's a long walk from the car. My wife likes Woofter Park because there is shade. The walk from the car is moderate, and IMO (but not my wife's) there is more chance of stepping in a dog pile in the dog area due to high grass, and lazy people. I don't know the name of it, but we frequently go to the park on Gowan and Rainbow. It's a little small, but so are the dogs. It doesn't have lights in the dog park, but the lights from the ballpark and the street are enough. You still might need a flashlight to pick up poo. The one on Cheyenne behind the police academy is too small. If Centennial is the one way out on Buffalo, we didn't like it because it has a strange shape making it harder to keep your eye on your dogs, and the grass was too high making land mines harder to spot.

It's not a dog park so they have to stay on the leash, but we like to go to Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs. We get the annual pass for Mexican gentlemen ─ the Señor citizen.
