CHICAGO (MarketWatch) -- Gambling revenue in Nevada bounced back strongly in May, soaring more than 16% to $984 million, according to data released Monday by the state's Gaming Control Board. On the Las Vegas Strip, which accounts for more than half the total, gambling revenue jumped almost 29% to $580.4 million, fueled by higher than expected volume and hold percentages for both slot machines and baccarat, along with increased visitation levels.

Great news. The Nugget was basically packed mid last week, not even on a weekend.

Funny with the good news, MGM is down over 5.5% as I type, one of the biggest losers. Go figure.

Yep, I know someone who has worked there for six years who just got laid off 3 weeks ago. Let's return back to the sheeple optimism for now as I do not want to ruin their party.

The broad market is down today because of the europe fear. 90% of the stocks are down, and MGM can not be an exception. However, this is not an indication of the economy climate in LV .

Let me guess, you are another Keynesian liberal. Sorry to tell you, but as Europe goes down so do we since we are all in the global economic ponzi scheme. You do realize we have lent at least billions and maybe even TRILLIONS to Europe that they are not going to be able to pay back, right? Look at the state of our own economy and tell me with a straight face it will not hurt us.

Macau revenues up 50% at 2.6 billion. Tops Vegas.

Baccarat? Really? I hope things are getting better, but the large baccarat players are typically from Europe and Asia.

That said, WSOP (World Series of Poker) has been well attended despite the restriction of internet Poker in the U.S.
