Something that would benefit everybody? Am I the only one who thinks we need a change? But what? A new Las Vegas county? A consolidated city-county? Suggestions?

In my opinion, our local government isn't nearly as bad as what you'll find in other cities. We don't have the magnitude of political issues that you'll find in cities like LA and Chicago - probably in part because we're not a very politically motivated city.

However, we do have room for improvement. I think the biggest thing that needs to be done locally is a reform to the Clark County School District...it's too big and too inefficient, and educational quality in the valley is not what it should be. I'm not necessarily talking funding (that's a state issue anyway), I'm talking organizational and directional change (maybe breaking the district up into several smaller districts?).

Yes we definitely could use some improvements with the education system but until I have a solution then I wont complain too much. I will just compensate with what the school is lacking with parenting.

CCSD is not part of the municipal or county government. It is in fact a state agency. You have to change state government to change CCSD.

And fixing it without spending money is going to be a tall order. You could of course break it up...which will lead to some nice suburban districts and a truly awful central district. It would make the suburbanites feel better I suppose but, if anything, it would make the overall school quality worse.

The largest municipality government in Clark County is Clark County. One could do away with the municipalities with no big problem. In general Clark County is pretty well run at this time. It has always had a strong operating capability.

Again it would probably be easier for Clark County to take over the state than any other strategy. Use the state legislature to run the county and the state. I think a part time legislature a good idea but something with more continuity...like two week each quarter or such so that the body has continuity.

Why do you want to change Las Vegas so badly??? I think most like it just the way it is. You keep pushing change like that...and you'll just end up with somewhere else!
