I don't tip the mailman or garbage man.

I tip them all with bottles of relatively inexpensive wine. They seem to really appreciate that -- better than just handing them a few bucks.

My trash guys can and do take a couple bottles of wine each. I've been doing this long enough that they stop and make a big production of picking up errant trash* around my front yard the last trash day before Christmas. That gives me time to run out with some wine for them.

Since I doubt they're carrying corkscrews in their truck, it's all good.

*Not that any trash exists, but they go through the shrubs looking for gum wrappers and such. Gives me time to run out with their tip. And for the rest of the year, my trash cans are placed neatly where they came from, not tossed haphazardly in the street like most of my neighbors. $20 well spent.

No tip for Garbage men- Too many broken/thrown from across the street, cans. Only tip they would get from me isn't very nice. My mailman is pretty nice maybe I'll see if he drinks wine & if so get him a bottle for the holidays.

What is it with tip jars in places like Yogurtland? Anyway..

My new mailman, possibly yes......the former one.....I might have tipped him had he ever put only OUR mail in the box......I met most of our neighbors by correcting his wrong deliveries.....

That would be me. I don't tip out of guilt, nor do I think I'm superior.

I DID sleep at a Holiday Inn Express, though.

I don't tip the mailman. I believe their business model is very different than that of people in the food & beverage industry.

While waiters/waitresses etc have meager wages & work for tips, the US Post Office pays very well, including nearly absolute job security (no layoff contract), gold plated pensions and Cadillac health care.

They don't work for tips.

I hand my mail lady a couple bottles of wine before Christmas. Who cares if it's not a tipped position? The tip works wonders.

I occasionally have expensive items mailed to me, and since I'm at the casino for crazy hours, they sit outside -- sometimes all day. My mail lady stashes the packages under bushes, and hand-writes a note letting me know where they are, and then places it in my mailbox.
