So you send people off to the flipper with the nice looking Sandy vehicle?

Sure that is reasonably bright.... yeah...

Does having a new Bentley on the road cost the state/county any more than an old Ford pickup (probably equivalent weight)? Registration fees should cover the DMV fees, and maybe kick something to road construction and maintenance. It should NOT be used as a backdoor income tax.

If I lived out there, this is something I would be getting in the face of the state legiscritters about.

"They go after new car buyers the hardest" is very much like saying that the Clark Country Assessor's office "goes after 20,000 sqft. mansion owners the hardest" on property taxes. I think it is reasonable to expect that a person who drives an expensive car, lives in an expensive house, and makes a great deal of money will pay more in taxes than the guy who works at McDonald's and drives a 20-year old Honda.

Property tax is a perfectly reasonable way to gain government revenue. They do houses, cars, airplanes and RVs among other things.

Necessary if you wish no income tax. Nevada of course leans heavily on gaming taxes and sales taxes which tend to nail the visitors rather than locals.

We still give mining too good a break. Need to follow the Alaska model a little closer.

I'm in complete agreement. Furthermore, we should duplicate the Alaska Permanent Fund and send a small check to everyone in exchange for the use of our common resources.

This is one thing that Alaska does right, and it makes sense. It is, after all, OUR silver, copper and borax.
