Recently I was lucky enough to gain employment in Las Vegas (Southern Highland) and will be moving in about 3 weeks. I was looking at apartments close to that area, particularly the 89123 area. Does anyone have any recommendations on decent/safe apartments? I will just be looking for a one bedroom no more than $750.
Also, can I expect from all utilities?
I've been a long time reader and am excited to finally be making the move.
Thanks to all who submit helpful comments!

Congrats. No problems finding a nice place in that range. If it were me, I'd check Craigslist and try to rent a condo from a private owner as opposed to living in an apartment complex. You should be able to find a nice townhouse with attached garage in a safe area. Expect to pay first and last months rent, no pets, and have a clean credit score. Sign a year lease and you're good to go. Utilities around 100/mo for all not including TV.

Good luck
Croce

Great information Croce! I do appreciate the reply. I will take a look at craigslist and see what I can find. That is a great idea, thank you. What is typical cost of tv/internet?

Antenna Man for TV and Ooma for free phone service.

Also, $750/mo. is right around average for Vegas so don't expect much.

If your going to work in Southern Highlands why not try Silverado Ranch area (by the Southpoint casino) Tons and apartments and easy access to the Freeway.

Isn't 89123 Silverado Ranch area? I think so as we looked at many homes there before heading to the NW.

Make sure before you rent a condo from a Craigslist ad that the person that rents it to you really owns it. Look up info on the Assessors site to find the real owner first. Don't get scammed.

Thanks everyone lots of really great information here. I've done some searching for condos and apartments in 89118 and Silverado Ranch and found some decent possiblities. The condo 89118 posted looks like a place I will definitely schedule a meeting with. Has anyone had any luck with any of the apartments close to Southpoint Casino?
Thanks again!
