Answering the door with a camera flashing their picture would be a good idea.

Must be less often than suckers fall for their pitch. And believe me, there's no shortage of suckers.

I remember back in the 90's, there was a story going around about young teenagers recruited by whoever, hitting neighborhoods all day, a van would drive them around, all day, up to 15 hours a day and they'd knock on doors and become very agressive if they suspected someone was home and wouldn't answer the door.

I remember Metro getting involved and something in the paper about it and they (the vans of teenagers/young people) soon disappeared.

I see they have made a re-emergence. Even though if they wanted to, they could get in my private, gated community, and we have very noticable "No Trespassing, No Soliciting" signs, I'll be waiting for them.

A few months ago, some gal and guy in a meat for sale truck came around knocking on doors in my neighborhood and apparently, from what I heard, were very aggressive. Several of the residents scared them out of the development with the threat of calling the cops before they were able to knock on every door in the community. I guess the meat sellers figured it wasn't worth it, no meat buyers feelin' the love in this community, lol.

I admire these kids drive. These kids are developing a skill that will prove useful as they get older with a little education behind them. Even though they are annoying, I make sure to meet them face to face and throw questions right back at them. The last team that showed up at my door, I had to explain the recession to them. I broke the economy down and why that their tactics would probably fail. Either they had to agree that they were not selling/receiving donations or prove disagree that their business model was thriving. If they were doing exceptionally well, why would they need a donation from me? If they were doing bad because of the economy, I was doing bad also. Either way, they understood why there was no need for me to donate. Plus I always ask if I could borrow $10 from them.

This really throws them off.

My door camera keeps people from knocking 99% of the time. I had these two boys not wearing shirts sit & knock on my door forever last summer. They didn't see the camera at first but once they did they left me some pretty funny images.

If someone I did not know, asked me what kind of dog I had and where I worked, I would be thinking I was being set up for a Robbery........

Tis why I sent them away I'm the type of person who likes to give people a chance, but I draw the line when it starts making me uncomfortable.

LOL... I had a couple of these "kids" come to apartment trying to hustle me into buying some magazines. I asked them how old they were and they replied, "23" and "25." Asked me where I worked and a lot of personal questions, but towards the end when they figured out I wasn't going to give them anything, they asked me if I had any POT to sell them. He even offered to give me a "no solicitation" door knob sleeve if I gave him the smallest bud of my bunch. Lol. Lol. Lol.

Needless to say, I'm getting my CCW soon and a Glock 19.
