If you do decide on UPS, get a private mailbox at a UPS store and they can deliver your stuff there and it will wait there until you are ready to pick it up.
Thanks. This is what I was wondering. If I could rent a box like that. If that is the case then I could start shipping stuff out a bit sooner instead of all at once. I have a friend moving there too, and thought about having stuff shipped to her but I'm not sure where she will be.living yet and don't want to put her out.

As for security, nothing I would be shipping would have any real value. Mostly clothes and a few times like books and whatnot. Anything of value, and I don't own much that IS really valuable, would be going in my car.

I love my little car but it is not convenient for moving. If I still had my SUV I could likely fit everything I needed in it and not need to ship at all.

I am using upack.com to move from Illinois in two weeks. Every review seems very positive. I will let the board know if I feel the same.

That's not a whole lot of stuff. Is your car capable of pulling a small u-haul trailer. If so, that might be the easiest way to go.

No, I drive a Beetle convertible. Even if the car COULD tow, UHaul doesn't allow any soft-top vehicle to tow trailers.

The small UHaul trailer is only about 5.5" feet shorter than my car
