We all know what dogs do to wheels. Does Vegas need (or can it afford) not one, but two, big wheels.... and if not, which do you think will win the pissing contest and why?

There is a Line from the Movie "Contact" where it is said
"First rule in government spending: why build one when you can have two at twice the price?"

Personally having a wheel so close to the airport, is like having miniature golf for airplanes to go into.

Winds are not a problem. These are not solid-faced structures. They are on glorified scaffolding which lets air pass through.

Looks like both are sure things...

Blessed are they who go in circles for some day they shall be big wheels?

And note these things are capital intensive but relatively cheap to operate. So both survive. I would think the one by the airport though may eventually pass through BK...but it will survive.

The one behind UP is being done by Caesars which has solid financing in place. The one by Mandalay doesn't have all financing in place yet the last I heard.

SkyVue is going to have its work cut out for it. It's in an area that does not have the high foot traffic the High Roller will enjoy. As a result, they're trying to make SkyVue a "destination" stop in itself. And, Caesars has deep pockets whereas the people behind SkyVue are tapped out going in. If we do go into a double-dip recession, the High Roller would be the one to survive.

Frankly, when the news came out Caesars would proceed with High Roller I expected the SkyVue people to bail. They're obviously a gutsy bunch and best of luck to 'em.
