in places where there are only 2 lanes, someone in the left lane will get up right behind you.

Slower traffic should drive in the right lane. You learned this in traffic school, remember? If you are slowing the flow of traffic in the left lane... MOVE OVER. It's very simple.

You should have some courtesy and pull over to the right lane.

I'm flabbergasted how many people do not realize this.

Unfortunately OP you are the one being rude in this case if using the far left lane as a travel lane (carpool lane excluded)

Passing lane - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"It is illegal in many states in the U.S. to use the "far left" or passing lane on a major highway as a traveling lane (as opposed to passing), or to fail to yield to faster moving traffic that is attempting to overtake in that lane"

Provided someone will let you into the lane. Sometimes I put on my blinker to make a lane change and the person to the right will speed up so they are right next to me. Make a hole, people!

It was worse in California though. Trying to merge onto the freeway in parts of SoCal was something else. Eventually I just started signalling and then employing the "ready or not, here I come." philosophy that so many drivers there seem to utilize.

When in Rome...

Yup. same here. Folks here are more rude than other places I have lived (which includes Texas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Idaho and Utah) so I just usually **** them off and hang in the left lane driving juuuuuuuust fast enough to keep up with the right hand lane where they cannot pass. Ha Ha Ha Ha. Take THAT!!

Probably was me behind you. I purposely do this on occasion. Then when I pass, I get in front of the person driving in the wrong lane, then slow down about 5 miles slower than they were going.

My wife hates when I do this.
