So if we were to use the shuffle to Sam's Town and from Sams Town to Harrahs or Fremont, would we have any trouble getting a cab to take us from Sams Town or a Fremont Hotel back to our vacation condo up Nellis Blvd/Vegas Valley Rd? I have heard that most taxi companies can only go from hotel to hotel and are not allowed to do residential drop offs. Are there any taxi drivers out there that can tell me which ones I could watch for when waiting outside in Sams Town taxi queue. Thanks.

Hubby took a cab from Sam's to our condo near Desert Inn/Cabana. No problem.
When we took a cab from our condo to the airport we took Desert Cab and the driver told us he ONLY did residential, not the Strip. I do not know how common that is.

Most cabs will take you anywhere in the valley. I wouldnt go so far as to say they have to, but they pretty much have to within reason. They might grumble but thats too bad.

I don't know where you get that from. Every gambler at the casino (or casino hotels) has to go home when they are done gambling. You live in a vacation condo, that's your home for the time you are in Vegas, and of course you should be able to take a cab from a casino to go home.

Thanks, good to know! It's going to be between $800 and $1000 to rent a car for 3 weeks when we're down from just after Christmas to mid-Jan if we rent a car so I think we can save some money doing the taxi/bus for at least part of that time.

Im not sure what your budget is, but having a car for that amount of time at that price is almost worth it. Try to rent from a location that is not the airport and prices may drop considerably.

We have never had a problem with a cab taking us back to our condo from either the strip or Fremont.

They are REQUIRED to delivery you to destination of choice. How do you think locals who had too much to drink get home? They do not like doing residential drop offs because picking up another fare there is harder to do, they might actually have to use their radio. Do not tell them your destination until you get into the cab, it makes it much harder for them to refuse service. Also have a general idea of the shortest route as they are WELL KNOWN for taking people for a long ride to run up the meter.

I know it costs more to rent a car in Las Vegas than in most other cities, but we rent cars when on vacation and pay way less than $400 - $500 a week.
