I'm of the opinion that positive attitude and vitamins work well to prevent colds and the flu. My thought process is that I'm not gonna let a little bitty germ get the best of me. I'm not scared of germs, they should be scared of me. Call me crazy but it has worked well for me for the past 20 years. That plus vitamins and exercise.

On the other hand, the wife has been known to catch a cold or the flu and wonders if the flu season is milder in Vegas. A short winter probably helps, visitors from all over the country (and world) probably makes things worse. Lots of money trading hands can't help the situation and offers a convenient vector for germs.

Have you noticed any difference in the number and severity of colds you get in winters in Vegas?

I think the short (almost non-existent?) winters and the extremely low humidity trump those other factors.

4 years here and I haven't had the flu yet <knocks on wood>. I interact with a very large number of people daily and many of them contracted the flu this last year. I get my flu shot annually and am an avid hand washer.

Prior to living in LV I got the flu about every other year, but I had never had a flu shot before living here.

Swine flu was going around last winter here and I caught it. It was easily one of the most brutal viruses I ever had. Lasted almost three weeks.

Flu season here is just like anyplace else.

Wash your hands a lot, sneeze into your elbow and not your palm, and get your flu shot.

Flu and colds are almost always a result of an (usually unknown) allergy.

However, our flu season only runs from January through December. Not to worry.
