If they have a for sale sign in front of their house, then the HOA will work with them to try to alleviate any reasonable problems. And if you read some of the threads here, you might come to the conclusion that a lenient HOA would be a great selling point and actually increase the value of the house.
Then you would likely end up fined or in jail for ignoring state law. HOAs don't just do what the president wants. They follow the law.

Well that would be a switch, residents pissed at the HOA for NOT doing things instead of residents being pissed at the HOA for all the crap the HOA does. I've heard a lot of complaints about HOAs being too intrusive, very few complaints about the HOA not being strict enough.

Jail, lol. You be funny.

YOu are pretty naive. I would think that the complaints about HOAs are big majority failure to act.

The ones that make the papers are the over-reaching ones. The ones that people ***** about are the refusal to act.

As a for instance there is the famous case of the hoarder in Sun City Summerlin. The local residents chased that guy for years with no impact. Finally fixed by the City of Las Vegas...who, by the way, had to be prodded for multiple years before they got involved.

initially build tower with TV antenna, HOA can't stop that.

Then wait a while and add HAM antenna...

No will probably notice..

Its just a OTA TV Antenna with extras to get distant stations..??

Build a TOWER in your HOA run community and let me know how well that works out for you.

I don't think the OP is a college student just a misinformed middle aged radio aficionado.

Are you sure? Maybe I'm a real estate lawyer.

I wonder how many people here, besides me, have read this? http://illinois-online.org/krassa/hd...0of%20HOAs.pdf

OK, I'm not a real estate lawyer. But I have been known to read scholarly papers every once in a while.

You're making the mistake that people in Las Vegas have clue one about amateur radio. ("Isn't that what email is for???") If it isn't a bog-standard, cookie-cutter, everyone-has-one TV satellite dish, then nobody wants it in their neighborhood. I think you would have better luck asking the HOA permission to install a "lightning rod" for safety reasons, and then installing your Diamond X-50 "lightning rod."

Also, keep in mind the valley is one big lopsided bowl. I'd buy along the rim of the bowl, particularly near the southeast or northeast parts of town (less HOAs that way, too) and make use of the free elevation. You could buy up on Mt Charleston and be the envy of all your peers. I see a great deal of amateur radio antennas up there, and also in my part of town.
