Hellos all around!

I'll be moving to Las Vegas in August to open a small office.

I'm trying to do some research on the costs of health insurance plans but (LOL) we don't have a physical address yet in Las Vegas and haven't registered with the state yet.

I'll be searching for office space in August-September and my boss will be flying in from Australia to sign leases, open accounts and etc.

Meanwhile, we're high gear in planning stages so some idea of what to expect in terms of costs of the different metal level plans for our employees (likely to be 3 to 5 at the start, all in their 20s most likely except me who's a smoker and 43 by that time).

We're also wondering what's typical to offer in terms of employer percentage of plan costs.

It seems there's truly no way to use the Nevada marketplace for quotes YET, and YET is a bit late for us.

Any advice or tips on this topic?

Thanks in advance! This forum has been so helpful to me as a future transplant!

When I checked (eHealthInsurance) for my very small office, the cheapest plan available was about $500/employee. The exact same plan was about half the cost if purchased directly by the employee, so if you're under the level where you must provide insurance, you might consider giving the employees a monthly stipend instead, and letting them pick their own plan.

My insurance cost went up over 150% last month. AND I got moved from a decent PPO plan to an HMO plan with a higher deductible.

People with individual policies that make too much money to qualify for subsidies get screwed.

Thanks Obamacare

(I guess I can only blame myself... I voted for him.)
