I searched, but probably used the wrong wording. I am curious about typical gas bills. I have never had gas in a home before. It's an 1800 sq ft house with stove and hot water heater. The furnace is gas as well, but that will never be used by me.
I'm just nervous because money will be tight for the next 2 months. I HAVE to shower daily, but I keep them short. Not a whole lot of cooking takes place. Maybe one meal a day. What kind of bill should I expect?

Also, I've turned down the thermostat on the water heater pretty low.

My gas bill runs around $35 per month in the summer and $65 per month in the winter for a 2000 sf house.
Based on what you describe your usage will be, you should not be paying more than $25 per month.

4k sq ft house; 50 gallon water heater; gas stove top; gas central heaters; really long showers; hot water recirculation pump. I'm on equal pay and it is $35/month all year long.

Gas is way cheaper than electricity. If you don't have one already, get a thermal blanket for the water heater. Mine paid for itself the first month or two. I'm on balanced billing and it's $27.00 per month. Gas furnace, stove, water heater, dryer, and fireplace.

Gas is the bill that I don't care about at all. It's always very low. Water can come with surprises if the irrigation system fails or if some hooligan opens your hose bib while you're on vacation. (Ask me how I know this.)

Gas? No biggie. $10-20. Put the water heater on low and you're looking at almost nothing. (Vacation mode isn't enough in the winter. But it is in the summer.) Even in the winter, when I turn the heat on in the morning to knock the chill out of the house, I'm only looking at $20-30 or so.

Install the thermal blanket correctly though, or there is a potential for BOOM! I have one here. It saves a couple bucks each month.

Electricity is what will get you especially in the summer and it depends on the age of the home how well it's insulated how big of an air conditioner how cool you want the home. Older homes up until 2005 would have smaller air conditioners because there wasn't a building code at that time that mandated the air-conditioner had to be appropriate for the size of the homes.

Which meant the air-conditioner had to work harder to keep a larger home cooler, also windows weren't energy efficient. Gas is very reasonable here, it's the electricity. You can contact NV energy to see what the utility bills were running in the home your in or looking at moving into.

I keep ac at 82. When I put in the ceiling fans that will go to 87. All I need is a decent breeze. I like the heat. I work construction in the heat.
