What "the other side" simply cannot wrap their heads around is that they're in favor of the extreme position.

Extreme position #1: Only heterosexual couples may marry. No homosexual marriage.

Extreme position #2: Only homosexual couples may marry. No heterosexual marriage.

The sensible position: Either heterosexual or homosexual couples may marry. (I'm also in favor of throwing bisexuals a bone and letting them marry in whatever permutation does it for them.)

What they're doing is ignoring position #2 as if it does not exist and deciding that the sensible position is, in fact, the "extreme" position. It is a logical failure that needs to go away as soon as possible.

can you do me a favor and author a thread on Walmart? I'd like to get your opinion..thanks!
If you were speaking to the OP, ummmm, no on the homosexual part. Forward thinker? Yeah, for the most part. How's life in the closet, Ace? Because the only people who strongly reject gay marriage are usually those that think it's a choice. ( ie: they have had those feelings themselves and are rejecting them ) Straight men who are secure in their sexuality don't generally have a huge issue with gay folks.

I think we should all be free to marry, or not marry, whomever we chose.

It's easy enough to tell the repressed homosexuals -- they're always complaining that gay couples are "rubbing in their face."

As in, "I'm against gay marriage because I don't want those queers rubbing it in my face."

I have heard so many supposedly heterosexual men use that exact term -- "rubbing it in my face" -- that I'm convinced that's shorthand for, "I wish I had the courage to do something about my homosexual urges." These are always the people who are strongest against heterosexual marriage. Basically, they wish to deny to others what they are too cowardly to admit to themselves.

Plus, that's not an insignificant population. There are what, 300 million people in the US? 2% is 6 million. Half of that (in a committed relationship) is 3 million. Bring them here!
Here's a list of the studies I quoted:

Demographics of sexual orientation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I know you WANT the stat to be much higher, in fact, over 50% of people between 18 and 34 believe at least 30% of America is gay. Where did they get this? The media's popularizing the gay lifestyle is one part. On any given show, about about a 4th of the cast is gay. Sorry, I have nothing against gay people. I have a problem with dishonest reporting, social engineering and fads. Can you name another 2% demographic that is so popular right now, or so vocal?

I honestly don't care how big the population is. My point was that, as the wedding capital of the world, it will benefit us as a city.

Oh I hear you. I was just refuting Scoops claim that Rush Limbaugh made up the 2% stat and that actually 60% of the US population is gay.
