So basically I have the cox mid tier internet speed (I think it's called internet preferred about 50mb/s), and the advanced tv with HD channels and ESPN/2. No phone service. I'm paying about $145 a month. Am I paying too much?

Interesting title for the thread LOL

But, that sounds about right for what you have. I'm sure there will be people who will let you know how to save by canceling everything and buying other stuff. But, as far as Cox goes, that looks right.

Yeah you are paying too much. It should only cost $99 for your cox package.

Yeah, you are getting ripped off by the cable company. I would call and threaten to cancel service if you don't get a lower rate.

Also, 145 a month for cox, from my understanding, is a bargain. LOL Usually they charge by the hour.

No need to call and threaten to cancel. They hear that all the time and will be ready to call your bluff. Even if you're not bluffing, they really don't care.

I've had much better luck at getting lower rates by simply asking in a polite, courteous tone about any promotions they can offer. You might be surprised what a little kindness will get you, especially when talking to someone who constantly catches crap all day.

They probably will offer you a special rate for a year, but they've always told me to call back for another promotional offer. It's always worked for me.

I copied this directly from my Cox bill for you. Sorry I'm a little technically challenged re internet amounts but I never go over gb's and I watch Netflix and spend a lot of time surfing on the internet. My telephone is a landline with long distance and I have "basic" cable I think they call economy. Also, when I am not in Vegas and up in Canada they only charge me $15 a month to retain all 3 services for 6 months. Actually they told me the seasonal rate when I am not in Vegas can be kept at $15 a month for up to 10 months.

Summary Of Charges $110.96
MONTHLY SERVICES$95.61
TV$41.99
INTERNET$36.98
TELEPHONE$16.64
TOTAL MONTHLY SERVICES$95.61

I pay 50 bucks a month for high speed data.

That's all you need. The rest you can get elsewhere. Magic Jack for phone, Sling TV, Netflix, etc.
