Coming to Vegas on Sunday.

Is that giant Ferris wheel enclosed?

Is there any place that offers a free vantage point to the east/ west for possible sunrise sunset pictures. It may be possible if I can get a room facing either way. I may ask to upgrade to a room with a balcony.

Is it possible to walk from south end of the strip to the Welcome to Las Vegas Sign? I read they have added a crosswalk and more parking. I saw it several years ago but wanted to see it again possibly at night. I was not going to bring my camera but I decided I would and I just bought a new lens :-)

Been looking at the weather seems to be nice during the day mid 60's maybe 70. I should be okay with a light jacket.

How is the buffet at Bellagio? I play that Vegas slot game on FB and can use my loyalty points for some free food. Not all casinos participate but Bellagio is one as well as Mandalay Bay. I have enough to cover all my meals and that includes taking my sister out to eat :-)

thanks

I will answer the Bellagio buffet question. It is very good but not cheap.

Get the 24 hour bus pass to go up and down the strip. I think it's $8 exact cash. You can buy it on the bus. As for strip buffets I've only had the MGM buffet and it was really good. Also when you check in get the players card. It may even help out with your room rate.

I may ask to upgrade to a room with a balcony. Pretty much anywhere in the valley will give you a good vantage point. Good luck finding a room with a balcony. MGM Signature, The Cosmo, and Platinum come to mind, but not sure of any others.

AHhh I see you added questions,
The walk to the sign is pretty far, you would be better taking the deuce there,
The sunsets are nice, but even nicer if you go to Valley of fire!

The MYvegas coupons are ok, but 50% off expensive is still expensive
you can get just as good quality buffets here for a LOT less, the rio, the wynn, etc are better deal

How long are you staying for? if a week, then RENT A CAR!

Jonathan

Just a short stay this time. Long weekend.

I have free buffets at some of the participating casinos. I have a players card for M-Life which covers many casinos I also have a Boyd's Gaming card. If I need others I will pick them up. Chances are I am already on file since I have been to Vegas quite a few times.

I think the bus sounds good $8 is pretty cheap. I am capable of walking so if I can ride halfway up the strip I will be good.

Next time I will hit the Valley of Fire. Not going to have a lot of time to do many extra things. My mom lives in Henderson and so does my sister going to spend a little time with them. I also want to go downtown at night to see Fremont Street.

I was reading that Treasure Island has the best Black Jack, Not sure how updated the website was. I know it is hard to find any casino that pays 3/2. Most are 6/5. I did very well last time at the Golden Nugget downtown.

It is usually in the 40's here in Oregon at night not much different. I'll bring a sweater too just in case. This is the first time I have been to Vegas in the fall. Every other time was in the sweltering summer.

Thanks for all the replies.

Bringing some money to gamble. Last time I went home a couple hundred dollars ahead. :-)

where will you be staying? you could try the $20 tip. i've never tried it though. vegas ferris wheel is basically a big glass egg like the london eye ferris wheel. just google vegas "ferris wheel inside" and you'll see pictures.

you could take the free tram from bellagio to monte carlo, then walk to excalibur, then take the free tram from excalibur to mandalay bay which is at the south end. it will be a lot of walking regardless because you'll have to walk. if you are there on weekdays, the better cheaper buffets are at the rio and m resort. the studio b buffet at the m resort is $17 for lunch/$25 dinner monday-thursdays both lunch/dinner have free wine/beer.

i was there last week and it was cold at night time outdoors. i was dressed in cargo shorts and tshirt walking in and out. i would say jeans and jacket are okay. you might be cold with a light jacket depending on what you're used to.

Check groupon for High Roller deals, the ride is 30 minutes so you time it so that you could get some great sunset views.

I would also recommend the Aria buffet if you are staying at an MGM property and can get the free buffet reward.
