As above really, $312.5m. Fitting really, had become a cheap joint, pay check cashing etc. Feel sorry for Palms place owners, will they have to advertise as Palms Place Station from now on?

Station Casinos parent company buys Palms for $312.5 million | Las Vegas Review-Journal

Aren't most of the Station casinos kind of mid-level places? Palms was (I thought) more high-end when it first opened and this acquisition would seem to be a step back.

We used to go to the Palms a lot since we stay at the Orleans, but we haven't been there in a while. Never really had much luck there and we kind of got tired of it.

I don't play too much at Station Properties, but I do like that they are growing, and maybe could force some competition onto MGM and Caesars. On the other hand, I wouldn't mind seeing more independents also, so in that respect, I don't like to see them go.

Overall I was never that impressed with Palms as it was...they seemed to be all hype, very little substance.

We always get free room offers from Red Rock and we don't play that much there.

Found out Station Casinos do not offer paid sick days to its employees. So if you call in sick 1 day, you get an infraction. If you call in 2 days, work on day 3 and call in sick on day 4, its 2 infractions. Now if you call in sick more than 3 consecutive work days, you're automatically placed on unauthorized leave of absence. If you have to be off more than 3 consecutive work days, you have to apply for FLMA but Station says you have to be employed for 12 mos to qualify for FLMA. If you worked for 10 mos, you're screwed cuz of the unauthorized leave of absence. Bringing a doctor's note does not justify you not reporting for your scheduled work day. Station can't afford to give their employees sick time but they could afford to buy another property for 312 million dollars. Oh great company!!

Does not matter what casino you work for. Every employee is disposable including upper management and analysts. The only difference from a Stations property to the Wynn / Cosmo is the amount of table scraps they provide to you. It's a ungrateful industry so get use to it.

Really depends which station casino you to to....Santa Fe, the closest to my house is a solid "mid-level" place that has some upscale offerings like the Charcoal Room, Revolver nightclub is good as well

And yet just 4-5 miles down the road at Rancho and Lake Mead you have Texas Station and one of the Fiestas. The crowd in both is pretty low scale, the same could be said about Boulder Station as well as Palace

Red Rock is definitely more upscale and their prices reflect that.

I never cared for the Palms personally, but I'm surprised they were able to buy them after giving up Aliante a few years back
