I was told that the only reason our local Sprint or whatever they are calling themselves these days, Century Link, I think, started their half assed fiber project was in hopes of being bought out by Google Fiber.

I prefer a hard connection. My 5g is unreliable.

Doubt that. But they are certainly going to give competition to the cable guys. Should be fun.

Cable companies will die unless they also do their own content. I'd like to know what percentage of cox is isp only now.

They get kinda bitchy if you ask for internet only service. I pay for the bundle because they charge more if you don’t. That said, my connection is usually reliable, and has been for decades.

They have the only decent fiber ring in town.

They are privately held. We don’t get to know the percentage unless we call Steve.

Yup. And I would not be surprised to see them go wireless the last mile.

I am actually screwing around with my land lines getting them off Cox so I can downgrade my cable option.

According to wiki there are already more Internet subscribers than TV. Very large phone numbers due to bundling.

If cox doesn't partner with a cell company they will go out of business. Expect that little company, Apple to begin a huge drive in this area.
