Much easier to buy them roasted then freeze them. Otherwise you either fill your house with fumes or spend ALL day outdoors at your grill roasting a dozen at a time.

I made a batch of Hatch chile hamburger stew Yesterday using Trader Joe's frozen diced Hatch chiles. These things aren't labeled as hot but they were easily twice as hot as the hot ones I buy roasted fresh at Smiths. Beware!

I loved the smell in my house. I roasted them 450 10 minutes each side. OMG so good. I wanted to make Chile Verde so roasted a few with jalapeno, onion, tomatillos, and garlic.

Turned out great!!

Albertsons has 1 1/9 Bushel (one box) for $10, fresh
I don't know if that's a good deal and whether or not it's specific to my store (Maryland/Silverado)

It was mayhem in that store, because of the extreme coupons including a $10 off $50. Do not go there during rush hour.

We just bought them for $.99 up here in the PNW. I don't know if it's a good deal, but I like them so I'll put them on the grill and vacuum seal them to use until next season.
