L. A. Was awarded the 2028 summer Olympics. What's the chance of maybe a soccer game or two in L. V.?

Why are cities still falling for the Olympics scam?
No one benefits from them but the Olympic committee. The athletes don't get squat. The taxpayers pay for everything and get no reward. Olympics are garbage.

I agree with EA on this. I lived in LA in 1984 when the Olympics were there. It's cool to see your city get the exposure but other than that, it was kind of a nightmare.

About the only thing a city gets is maybe some infrastructure in the form of housing. Now, it's probably even worse as the IOC has turned into nothing more than a corrupt little governing body.

I went to the '84 Olympics. What a great time we had!

But agree with all that they are very costly and many times the stadiums etc are never used again.

There is a website that shows old broken down Olympic buildings. Some as recent as Brazil.

The 1984 LA Olympics made money, because they used existing venues.

By that time, they could use the Raiders facility for a couple of games, but why would they? We still won't have high speed travel from Los Angeles, LA already has two NFL-sized stadiums right now and is building a third one plus many college stadiums that could be used. Why make people drive 4-6 hours each way to see a game, plus lose the revenue from the games being held locally?

I can't see them needing to spread it out to Las Vegas either. And I remember the 84 olympics. While they managed them about as well as I think you could, it was still a huge impact on the area. As traffic has gotten much much worse in the past 30 years or so, and L.A. hasn't added any real capacity, I can only imagine the gridlock 10 years from now. I think those games will be best watched on the 10' big screens that should be in everyone's living rooms by then...

$$$$$$$ would be the reason. LV is an easy sell, and the Rio Olympics had 32 soccer matches, so, 2-4 LV matches would be doable.
