i've got family coming into town in february, they are staying at the hard rock & we are going to meet them for brunch - we haven't seen them in 3+ years & it's their 1st time to las vegas.

* reasonably priced (trying to keep it under ~25/pp)
* casual
* not too noisy, as we want to catch up

i checked out hofbrauhaus online, which would be a total blast, but it doesn't look like we could carry on a conversation & i have no idea what their prices are.

the menu's for culinary dropout & mr lucky's in the hard rock look tasty.

should i pick from one of the 3 i've mentioned or is there another location that i should be looking at?

Right down the hill is Downtown Summerlin. There are a lot of choices there.

On Sahara is Siena Italian Authentic Trattoria and Deli - Trattoria Home

Across the street from Red Rock there's Bj's (Good pizza!!), Olive Garden, and a couple of others.

The one and only time we tried the hofbrauhouse, it was terrible, and very noisy. They may have german names on the food, but that's where it ended for us! Blech....maybe if you had enough beer, it might be better, but certainly not sober!

If you like italian, here's someplace pretty close, and within your budget: Sicilian Ristorante at 3520 E Tropicana. Not much to look at on the outside, but food is very good. Here's their web page, with menu on it: The Sicilian Ristorante Las Vegas NV

Recommended by someone in a thread on here, and it was a good one for us..

His family is staying at the HARD ROCK, not the RED ROCK. Did any of those places he mention sound like they were near the Red Rock/Downtown Summerlin?

If I was on that side of the Strip, I'd drive up Paradise, hang a right on Sahara, and go to Fat Choy in the Eureka Casino.

Yeah, I've eaten every one of the items pictured below. They have a brunch menu with American classics, but only on Sundays.

Peking Duck Bao

Short Rib Grilled Cheese w/Tomato jam

Duck Rice w/egg

Short Rib Rice w/egg

Our standard place for meeting with strip relatives is Mon Ami Gabi in the Paris. If a nice day go for the second line and get an outside reservation. Might go a little more than 25 but not much. Cheap for the strip.

We have also used the Mexican restaurant in Dare which did make the $25 number. Pretty good food and we had a 12 person conversation going OK.

We have also used lawry's which won't make the $25 and McCormick and Smicks (or whatever) which may.

One of the best Italian restaurants in Las Vegas is across the street from the Hard Rock. For lunch, Ferraro's will be close to $25 pp (probably plus tip). On the very casual and much cheaper side of things, DogHaus is in the same plaza and has seriously good hot dogs, sausages, and (I assume also very good even though I have only ordered dogs) burgers.

We have taken people to Ellis Island. Good food reasonable price. Specials if you get their players card which is real easy. You may have to wait but slot machines in same area. It is down on Koval Ln.
