Frias is selling and I doubt there's a buyer. They already stopped running shuttles to the airport last year.
They can't compete with rideshare. I give it 2 years before the rest fold.
One of the biggest youtubers ever, who usually gets first crack at all things tech, posted a video of a autonomous car ride he took. NO driver behind the wheel at all. A bunch of new tech at CES including new lidar systems from FLIR. We're going to wake up one day soon and won't be able to buy a regular car anymore.

The rideshare companies helped. But no one will miss the existing taxi industry.

Aptiv and Lyft have been doing driverless PAID service on the Strip for over a year now. They have logged in over 5,000 paid rides since it started if I remember correctly. There is a technician monitoring on the passenger side but no one on the driver side. Passengers ride in the back. Eventually it will be truly driverless without a technician onboard.

As far as taxis they are on a losing battle with Lyft and Uber. They are even trying high tech. At work we have button to push, no calls. Just push a button for regular cab, two times for handicap cabs...three times for cabs with 5 or 6 passengers......... At work all I see are Uber and Lyft dropping off guests, I seldom see cabs dropping off passengers.

They can get desperate and nasty for sure. I've experienced it and seen it.

The aptiv cars are NOT autonomous. They're basically data collection vehicles. I've seen the Aptiv cars hundreds of times. Every single time I do the driver has hands on the wheel and is driving.
I've talked to people that have taken them and they say the driver told them that the cars don't self drive.

There's also a dash cam company that keeps giving away dash cams to rideshare drivers for free. They sync to your phone and report back all kinds of data. It's kind of funny that so many drivers are helping end their source of income.

Like I said it will be eventually be driverless, the onboard technician is monitoring making observations. When you call Lyft for rides on the Strip, it will ask you if you want a driverless car.

There is high stakes meaning people can get hurt so these companies are doing their best with monitoring and studies.
