I'm interested in things only locals would know..

Like.. Which movie theatre do you go to, which one has a cheap day, like $5 Tuesdays.. Favorite dive bars, which ones have good drink specials.

Or anything you wanna throw out there..

Know a spot that has a badass gyro, a killer Italian beef? Your favorite pizza place? Your favorite whatever.

How's the music scene? The metal scene? The hip hop scene? Where's the best place to see a low-mid level concert?

It doesn't even have to be positive.. Know a place that over charges for a crappy ass Italian beef?

Thanks!

Good luck finding a good Italian beef around here. I'm in Henderson and only found two -- Rosati's (a Chicago chain) and Windy City Beef. Both are pretty much over-priced, and are okay. Windy City will sell you a 3" sandwich if you want one, but who buys a 3" sandwich? Rosati's is about $9 bucks but you do get a salad (or fries, I think) with it.

Palms Casino has movies for $6 before 6pm and $5 all day Mondays.

Pizza Rock is my favorite pizza. The dough/crust is unbelievably tasty and the texture and airiness is perfect. Cal Italia and Sausage and Stout are my favorite, but may be too sweet tasting for some... I don't like the ricotta they use on some other pizzas, Grimaldi's has better tasting ricotta imo.

Good Gyro to me means slabs of lamb (shoulder), not something that resembles a can of dog food, so there's no good gyro here.

I don't know what Italian beef is, I would assume it's not Carnevinos.

Italian beef is (basically) shredded or thinly sliced roast beef cooked in a special kind of gravy. It's a staple in the midwest and east coast, not so much out here.

You take a roll, dip in the gravy, and put the beef on top. Usually served with giardiniera. Mmmm.

Guess what I'm making for dinner tomorrow?

I'm surprised no one has cornered the Vegas market serving a proper beef. (For the uninitiated, just picture a dressed up French dip sandwich. Lots of garlic, spices, giardiniera, different kinds of peppers depending on where you go.. And the entire sandwich itself can be dipped in the gravy/au jus. I like mine dry tho.)

What about a good cheesesteak?

Is Vegas a hot bed of small beer breweries/taverns like every city east of Denver? Any favorites?

Good thread. This Jersey born Italian is moving to Henderson soon and needs to know where good Italian anything can be found. In my 10 trips to Vegas/Henderson I haven't been able to find a decent slice of pizza.
