I have lived and worked in BHC before. Both could be considered part of extreme LV suburbs..that's why I am asking the Vegas forum. I can afford a basic condo in, either. Thanks for your opinions.

Sort of depends on what you like to do. I'd pick Mesquite; it is closer to Brian Head.

I like low crime, access to quality groceries..Costco, sprouts, TJs, ...low roller gambling promos, some good late night action, reasonable utility bills, access to healthcare. And good broadband is a must.

There are literally none of those shopping places in either Mesquite or Laughlin.

Mesquite seems quieter/safer to me. That's with zero actual research.

St. George isn't too far and is a great place.

I'd probably lean Mesquite if it were me.

I find it hard to get quality groceries in Las Vegas/Henderson. I lived in places before where I got great meat, fish, seafood, vegetables etc, but not here. Utility bills are reasonably low and I assume they are in the places you are asking about due to the weather not being too extreme except in the hottest months of the year. Late night action is plentiful in Vegas, doubt it is in smaller towns. Healthcare is reported to not be good in Vegas but I'm happy with mine so far, but don't have any health issues. You should take a vacation to the area and check out the places you are considering. They're small, it won't take much time to discover what they have or don't have.

Mesquite has a Smith’s Food and Drug and a Walmart. If you need to access other retail options, you would need to head up to St. George UT. Mesquite is a nice town with good growth potential but there needs to be more shopping options to make it more appealing.

Once.

Just once.

Just once I wish someone would post, "I want to live in a high crime area, in a food desert, where the sidewalks roll up at 5pm, expensive utilities, and crummy healthcare. With dial-up modem access to AOL."

I would pick Mesquite. If you want a Costco, just drive into St.George. Plenty of shopping there. If you want even more shopping, head down to Las Vegas and stock up. There are a few Mesquite groups in Facebook you can join so you can get a feel for the place and people. Mesquite is growing slowly, lots of wide open spaces, beautiful mountain views. Good weather except for those incredibly hot summer days/nights. Laughlin sounds nice too. I only visited there once years ago. It was very HOT!
