Please let us know if the cover does lower the sound. I’m intrigued by it.

That cover is more open and it doesn't say it helps with noise. Someone asked if it reduced noise and a person replied that they haven't noticed a difference. At least you are trying by changing the amount of hours or schedule of hours it's running and putting something.

My neighbors on both sides have pools and I never hear the pumps, but they are in their backyards. In our other house, the neighbors pool pump is between houses right by a bedroom and we could hear it, but tuned it out. We didn't realize how much of a problem it was until we put the house up for sale. Potential buyers were complaining about it.

Thinking about this more, maybe those vinyl privacy panels or whatever people use to keep their trash bins concealed could work, too.

The Horizon Industries Pump Motor Cover will not do much if anything to control the sound the pump makes. You need sound absorption and unfortunately, materials that do that aren't meant to be used outdoors. In recording studios and home theaters, we use Owens Corning 703, rigid fiberglass. It takes at least 4" thick panels to absorb mid band frequencies, low frequencies require thicker panels (bass traps). If it gets wet, it's trashed.

Your neighbor could use music or TV to "mask" the sound he hears in his house. He could play music at a reasonably low level when he's outdoors to mask the noise from your pool pump. He does not need to be a jerk and play it loud to retaliate, you could file a complaint if he does.

It sounds like your neighbor has substandard noise insulation in his house.
