Hi everybody.

I own a "Risk and Reliability Consulting" company in Colombia since 2000 and now I consider it is time to become more visible to the rest of the world. I visited LV early this year for a congress and I loved. It seems to me that being in LV gives a lot a "visibility" to Companies, specially to services companies like mine, becuase of the thousand of congresses happening there along the year. This, plus no Taxes like in other states makes me thing that it would be a great decision move my company there better than LA or Miami. ¿Am I wrong on that?.I mean..For me seems to be very obvious the best place for relocating would be LV just for the Taxes part, but I must confess I don't have a clue about what else means to live in US and in LV specifically.

Other thing is I'm not sure how happy is local people seeing foreign people moving business there, so maybe this thread can give me a clue on that also.

Weel, maybe somebody have had similar experiences moving business there. I'd appreciate your comments and sincerity on this.

Best Regards and Congratulation to everybody living in LV!

Whenever Colombia is mentioned in American news stories, "drug cartel" is usually in the same sentence . . pretty much like when America is mention in foreign news stories, "bombing" or some other negative atrocity is usually in the same sentence. Negative perceptions will always be an issue.

This is absurd.

Well, I appreciate sincerity...It seems moving there will be a good chance to make a lot of positive marketing about our people . News, Hollywood etc etc... need to sell anyway, there's no sense on "complaining" about positions like that because complaining nothing will happen. We always prefer to look at the positive side and to show with facts that we also have one... More comments for a complete landscape are welcome!

Well the answer to your question about moving your company to Las Vegas is.....why not?

Many businesses have moved here. If you have a good business operating plan and can take the stress and strain of moving to a new country...then do it! Las Vegas is a very diverse city, many cultures and ethnicities co-exist side by side here.

Do it legally, do it smart, watch your VISA's (so you don't get in trouble with ICE) be good business people, plan well and you should be able to succeed in this country and in this city.

Much good luck to you!

Dont worry about the foriener accent or country of origin. There will always be discrimination but I find if one can speak the official language of America they will get much less crooked smirks. Dont worry about it at all since your grammar suggests you can speak it just fine.

As one business owner to you, I have owned businesses in 3 states and I can promise you it is harder to open one in Nevada. It might be a Clark County thing I dont know but all the fees are higher. The hoops you need to jump through exceed that of even California who is known as the most policed state on personal rights. Yet your taxes will be less here then California. Sometimes I feel the fees to register here and the continued bi-annual fees here make the distance between the tax savings and business licensing fees pretty close.

I am certainly not familiar at all in relocating a foreign business to the USA but I would venture to guess there are more business friendly places to start then LV. Certianly not the exposure you seek with Las Vegas in your title though.

I might have some meetings with the Mayor or City Council about your wish to relocate and how many jobs you might create. There are many quite often incentives for new businesses to relocate because cities know that small business is the back bone of America. Plus they pay taxes and employ people.

Example of incentives: My company had one of its 5 main headquarters in Las Vegas for more then 20 years. The growing pains forced them to look elsewhere to escape the very high taxes here. So in their search Las Cruces, New Mexico offered a deal that was impossible to say no to. FREE property taxes for 5 years if they would build their operations within Las Cruces. Well on we went and took 1000 jobs with them. And the new operations have employed another thousand Las Crucesens. We still have a service center here in LV and that will remain forever.

Finally, the economy here is very very bad and LV is among the top 5 worst in America. Columbia is more stable now with its diverse R&D, its high tec industry, and the government encouraged entrepreneurial spirit to attract and retain quality of life. And of course your #1 export....coffee, (excluding drugs).

Columbia has 31 Fortune 500 companies. Las Vegas has 5 and 4 of them are casinos. One is energy. Not impressive at all.

Contact the LV Chamber of Commerce for relo brochures.

So take it all as ammo for your decission and good luck to you.
